Hello
Im still missing how to get transparency on glass when exporting to a IFC-model.It works with all other BIM software and its a bit embarrassing when joining BIMcoordination-meetings.Do you have a quick fix for this.I also tried it with the latest OBD and with only the delivered configuration...
Regars / Oskar
Hello Oskar,
If the elements have transparency then you should be able to see the transparency. If an Window has glass that is transparent in nature so with IFC 4, you will be able to get that in IFC.
Regards,Alifur
Hello Alifur. What IFC viewer is that you used? The only way for me is to change the materials in SimpleBIM and export it again
Hello Johan & Oskar,
I am seeing that for Windows only when done with walls or slab, i am seeing the same issue as of yours. I am contacting development team to look at the issue. will update .
Thanks Alifur! I hope you'll get an answer how to resolve it.
Hello All,
Got an Answer, IFC 2*3 does not support transparency so you won't be able to see that in IFC.
IFC 4 does support transparency, but most of the IFC viewers does not support transparency as transparency is not a requirement for Coordination and Reference View certification. We have got an IFC viewer where it shows transparency properly. See the below image.
So its IFC viewers that is not showing the Transparency properly. i hope this helps you.
Thank you
Now I can se that transparency from my export is ok in:Your Viewer ( I think )Dalux IFC ViewerBut no transparency when the IFC is opened in:SolibriNavisSimpleBimOpenBuildingsDesignerThe other programs shows transparency when the IFC is exported from Archicad or Revit. So i think something is missing in the IFC export from OBDI even opened a ICF made from Revit ( Made from competing office) in OBD and it looks great.I Used the ICF 4 exportCould you look in to this please
ODB EXPORT. Opened in Dalux Viewer
ODB EXPORT. Opened in ODB
REVIT EXPORT. Opened in ODB
Can you please send me the Revit Export file & OBD export file so that i can test and report that to my dev team. If you have any issue then you can email me at : Alifur.mandal@bentley.com.
Thank you for sending the files, but the revit file that you have sent is only showing transparency in through the window and curtain walls. not through any walls or slabs.
Hello AlifurOf course its transparency on Windows and glass. And no transparency of walls.Thats the way we want also OBD to export. All objects made of glass should have transparency in IFC.(Or other objects with transparency material attached )
The windows does have transparency in IFC 4, please refer to the attached image above where the windows are in blue transparency.
