Hi,
I am new to OpenBuildings designer and have multiple questions regrading the slab tool:
1- How to create an angle in the slab from one end only? like the one below.
2- How to create a slab that have different thickness and sloping at the same time?
Thanks,
Hi Ahmed,
The first example I think should not be done with a single element. I'm speaking from a contractor's point of view where we would have reasons to split this element:
The second case is something else. There I agree that the single slab should have a sloped top. In some cases might be that the slab is parallel (ie. the bottom has the same slope). In this case the bottom is horizontal.
With 'Legacy' slabs there is/was an option to change a single edge or even point of a slab element. Compound slabs (in Update 9 and Update 10 this is the default type of slab) don't have this option yet, as far as I am aware.
Within my projects I do use Compound Slabs as much as possible, but for situations like this I still use the 'Legacy' slab. This thread deals with how to use those legacy slabs in the latest versions of OBD: Disable compound slabs in U9? - OpenBuildings | AECOsim | Speedikon | Forum - OpenBuildings | AECOsim | Speedikon - Bentley Communities
Not sure if it is good for structural elements, but with DRAW ON SOLID and MODIFY SOLID ENTITY it is very easy to model geometry.
