Hi,
My design model contain few references and I create the plan (drawing model) from design model.
I want to make some references (A, B, C) show in grey and others show in solid color in the plan.
I tried few method to to it as below, but still unable to make it:
1. Change Display style, but all components at lower level are change to some color together
2. Create another container model for A,B C reference, attached in the drawing model, but it causes some layer in sheet model will not show up
(Manhole cover level missing)
3. Create another container model for A,B C reference, attached in the sheet model, but the reference will cover the annotation.
This is the result we want, some reference is grey, some is solid. May I know how to do it???
Did you try Display Rules? Simple ask for "is Reference" and "Ref Logical" name for example. Assign the Rule to your Forward or Cut View Style. Don't forget to Reload

Any reason not useing Level Symbology?

you have only one Levelsymbology per Reference. Display Rules are more flexible.
Level symbology is per level in active file as well as in a reference. So if your model is properly organised it is easy to use. And in OPs case just to select all levels in a reference I find that very easy and use it a lot.
I'd like to see Display Rules, but can't find it in the interface, and search didn't find anything?
Display Rules are in the Display Style Dialog, so if you need them in more then one Drawing you should create them in the DisplayStyles.dgnlib.
I must correct myself. Level Symbology is per Model, not per file. The documentation indicates Display Styles are per file. If so it is a greate advantage for Level Symbology.
Display Styles saving in dgnlibs can be usefull and it seems more powerful than Level Symbology. But that comes with complexity and more work.
Level Symbology seems simplier and direct. You can see your settings directly in Level Symbology dialog instead of having to go to a dgnlib.
