&lt;p&gt;Point clouds with colour photos overlaid have been improving. Leica Truview overlays panoramic photos with pointclouds to allow measuring. This is better than the displaying the RGB info on the points themselves which makes understanding the objects very hard unlless you really up the resolution which sloows Mstn etc down to a crawl.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p94TUi2qM0"&gt;Hybrid&lt;/a&gt; photo / laser scanners are coming onto the market. Point clouds are easy to convert to meshes and &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/uwI26oaP0nQ?t=41"&gt;textured&lt;/a&gt; with the panoramic photos. And once you do that you can convert to something like FBX that Mstn should be able to import with the &lt;a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVz3bhbjAyM"&gt;applied&lt;/a&gt; textures. No need to mess with cumbersome PCs.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;OTOH, photo and &lt;a href="https://urbaninverserendering.github.io/"&gt;video&lt;/a&gt;-based 3d capture is advancing very quickly, driven by AI and &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/lC2uPDfaTcE?t=122"&gt;Nvidia&lt;/a&gt; etc. Combined with global positioning, SLAM, Google Maps + Cesium etc etc, this is really making digital twins more and more mainstream... even die-hard Mstn CAD, BIM drivers will be affected at some point.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Fact: the larger the client or project the more context info needs to be processed. But even at the smaller end of the scale, firms like Matterport are starting to make an impact in the CAD design space. CAD users would say sure but that Matterport file has to be exported out as dxf (small fee) and CAD&amp;#39;d up before you can really do any &amp;#39;design&amp;#39; (expensive). With AI, you can now auto-&lt;a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrxnpxKarxU"&gt;segment&lt;/a&gt; the PC or mesh model. CC has its &lt;a href="/products/3d_imaging_and_point_cloud_software/w/wiki/54656/itwin-capture-detectors-download-page"&gt;Detectors&lt;/a&gt; which I suspect will grow.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This Matterport Genesis demo is instructive. Auto-segmentation enables &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/vTT_SDThRi8?t=9"&gt;subtractions&lt;/a&gt; (-ve) from the model. &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/SRBmeFjvqak?t=38"&gt;Additions&lt;/a&gt; (+ve) to a model is a given with CAD. Taken together you have the basic prerequisites for designing within a dynamic hybrid context. Clean up and CAD-ifying and even adding &amp;#39;BIM&amp;#39; asset classification info to the scan will get a lot easier. All that AI-assisted object / product subsitution is icing on the cake.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The contextual &amp;#39;digital twin&amp;#39; dimension also opens up a lot of analytical modeling benefits: lighting (technical not just the CGI stuff), infra-red (heat loss, moisture levels), acoustics, people movement etc etc. Even just the visual aspects only will be immensely useful for asset tracking, condition / performance analytics. The analytics (and surveying) will increasing be where the fee is as more and more &amp;#39;CAD&amp;#39; fee hours will be automated using AI.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;My guess is it is for renovation of facades.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If so, I suggest you create a idealised model of the buildings, 2d or 3d. By idealised I&amp;nbsp; mean that everything is ortogonal, same sizes, equal&amp;nbsp; distances etc&amp;nbsp; - as you would for a new building. It is many times faster and easier to use.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;A crack to the left of the third window will be just that.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I don&amp;#39;t see a scenario where you get real world coordinates of a crack to the mm from a pointcloud into accurate points in a dgn that is later used by some instrument to find excat that point.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Your goal is to produce a pdf/paper drawing with annotations of categories of damages so someone can specify what to do about them and ad that text to the drawing. Right?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If you use OBD you can make the mark up of the damages so you can get quantities if that is desired. If not, consider just using a photo and make annotations on it.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A tip might be to buy a pen tablet (wacom.com) which appears as a new screen to your PC. &lt;p&gt;To add to Alifur&amp;#39;s reponse: Yes and No. &amp;#39;Facilitate&amp;#39; covers a lot of ground. Mstn which OBD includes has been very good at incorporating point clouds and reality meshes, way ahead of competitors. But, neither Mstn or OBD has much for Scan2BIM OOTB.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Point clouds: Mstn has long supported this, but point clouds are considered an intermediate format these days, with most users converting to reality meshes as point clouds will sloooow even Mstn, Navigator down. The new imodel format can stream point clouds which should help... but I doubt it will stop users converting from PCs as soon as possible. See this example of PC, reality mesh &lt;a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7UDnDRoFQ4"&gt;sectioning&lt;/a&gt; and tracing over with &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/gVxi56RJIgU?t=431"&gt;OBD&lt;/a&gt; elements.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Mstn/OBD is a good platform for Scan2BIM as it supports a lot of survey formats including CAD, mesh formats which other more BIM-oriented apps like Revit will struggle with. OBD also supports hybrid BIM models by providing tools to segment and classify point cloud / reality &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/UswHj9R8_6A?t=88"&gt;mesh&lt;/a&gt; objects, so not everything has to be converted into BIM geometry to carry data, quantification, clash detection, allow snapping etc. Mstn / OBD&amp;#39;s CAD orientation supports &lt;a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-UBFWuR98k"&gt;Hypermodeling&lt;/a&gt; 2d and 3d and PC info.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Descartes/Context Capture: You will probably need Descartes/CC as a companion app for any serious work. CC has a lot of support for aerial drone info... which should also help with facades. I think Bentley has also been doing some work with high precision &lt;a href="https://visualintelligenceinc.com/article/introducing-visual-intelligence-millimeter-accuracy-for-towers/"&gt;camera&lt;/a&gt; systems for telecoms towers. Might be interesting if you are looking at cracks, and measuring them for preventive maintanance.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Automatic vectorisation: there are other apps like Topodot have some tools for &lt;a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqTtm8NO3CE"&gt;buildings&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Again, you will probably need to go beyond Mstn/OBD. CC already has an automatic &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/CI5nGlZjNHs?t=117"&gt;vectorisation&lt;/a&gt; tool for the cracks and can export to &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/baHe3FDcXb8?t=858"&gt;iTwins&lt;/a&gt; for storage, updates etc. iTwins being a repository that can store multiple formats from different apps, including the important photo &amp;#39;evidence&amp;#39; or any cracks or other material degradation. Orbit GT is also another powerful platfrom for managing photos spatially.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The old photogrammetry addons &lt;a href="http://www.phocad.de/en/PHIDIAS/phidias.html"&gt;like&lt;/a&gt; &lt;a href="https://youtu.be/rJlPKi-ohtM?t=25"&gt;PHOCAD&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;have some pretty useful tools generally... but I am not sure they have ported to CE. It would be great if Bentley could incorporate into Mstn or Descartes!&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;As you would probably have gathered by now, one the problems with using Mstn for Scan2BIM is the number of licenses you need which would only be feasible for large projects. Hopefully, something that can be negotiated to kickstart adoption in the SME sector.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The points cloud .pod file can be attached inside OBD and by tracing that you can create your buildings.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Regarding, The information, OBD used datagroup properties to store information, You can create your custom properties which will store the data about the cracks and they can be exported to IFC as well as properties.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
