Currently our interiors group is using bentley Architecture to add instance data to a series of 2d cells used in their furniture plans.
They are doing so they can make of the datagroup explorer reporting tools and the Space planning search tools in V8i to create FFE schedules.
This ahs been going well however the question has come up about how to delete instance data from an element.
Is there are tool for this in Bentely Architectue. I have had a look but can only find ways to edit the data not remove it.
From the main DataGroup toobar choose the Modify Instance Data tool, select the object, then right-click on the object name in the left side pane and choose Delete. That should do it.
Hi Steven, I also have same question, when I try to your method is not work.
I used ABD ss6.
Do you have another method?

Hi Lynn,
The Wiki that Dominic includes below is more on-point for removing DataGroup instance data. Note that this only works for components that have DataGroup data applied to them, and not components that are placed with that instance data like Walls, Doors, Windows, etc..
Hi! I also encounter the same issue, I did follow the instructions but still I am unable to delete/remove the instance data. I am using ss6? is there any other method to remove the instance data say of a 'Slab' and assign a different instance data?
Thanks

Hi ReggieLabi,,
You can use key-in "dgex detach data" , Then select element in DGN, It will give you following UI
Right click on catalog name and you will see 'Delete' option. This should allow you to delete the instance data.
Note - You should first use command and then select element.
Let me know this works, otherwise please share your DGN.
