Hi everyone,
At the moment I'm trying to figure out the relationship between the Dynamic Views and Dataset Explorer. On XM I usually set up cuts and run extractions with dataset rules to tell it what layers it should be put on, with V8i it doesn't seem to read those datasets. From what I've learned from trial and error it seems like this Dynamic View has no direct control over the layers and symbology of when it cuts through the 3D model. If this is true then really this Dynamic View doesn't really help structural 3d models with cuts through concrete and steel. My results at the moment is that when I create a Dynamic View through my model it just creates a Dynamic View with the layers it picks up from 3D model (basically whatever layer the model is modeled in). Is there a way to make it read the Drawing Symbology (‘F&R View Level') in the Dataset Explorer and make it come out on the correct layers? This is for Bentley Structural V8i, if there is no way to get it come out on the correct layers i might have to resort back to the old method of running extractions, although i would wish to utilize this dynamic view feature which is really neat.
Many thanks.
ouie: Have you worked something out with dataset and DV's? As far as I've got the dynamic views doesn't change level as the Drawing Extraction Manager does. It's the same levels with new symboligy for me. The (‘F&R View Level') from the dataset seems to be an exclusive feature to Drawing extractions. We are using version 08.11.07.61
Regards Andreas
From what I have tested, Building View tools are present in bentley structural V8i, but they do not resymbolize yet, the rules are not functioning yet, and family and parts work kind of if trying to do a view.
Why have to tools present if they don't work properly?
Currently only BA has functioning Building Views, but even those are missing some key things like Forward Mapping and now paz and compound cells do not unify from Family and Part in Elevation. So we are back to extractions.
Layers are determined by your parts first.
Then I have only little control overriding those levels
