I hope this turns into a full discussion as I'd like to see al lot of input.
Does everyone use the supplied parts/families/DGWall Definitions or do use your own.
The Current Parts Use Uniformat which is for assemblies And the Walls use Interior and Exterior but divided single Walls ect.
If we worked with with the Masterformat and Uniformat as Intended Parts are Masterspec .ie "03 15 00 Concrete Accessories" And Assemblies of DGWalls would be Uniformat A 1030 Slabs on Grade Then the DGWall WouldUse the same name as the part or assembly they are adding information to.
We use our own Parts & Families based on Masterformat. Some examples include: Family = 030000 (Structural Concrete)
Part = A_Precast (Architectural Precast Elements)
Family = 040000 (Masonry)
Part = Brick_Extr_03 5/8_A (3 5/8" Brick-Extr-Type A) Part = Brick_Extr_03 5/8_B (3 5/8" Brick-Extr-Type B) Part = CMU_Intr_01 5/8 (1 5/8" CMU) Part = CMU_Intr_03 5/8 (3 5/8" CMU)
Family = 090000 (Finishes)
Part = GWB_1/2 (1/2" Gypsum Board) Part = Mtl_Std_Extr_02 1/2 (2 1/2" Extr Mtl Stud/Furring) Part = Mtl_Std_Intr_06 (6" Intr Mtl Stud)
Matthew - thanks for continueing the conversation
Attached is what I am buiding. Using MasterFormat litteraly so that I am compable with Revit and the Corp of Engineers.
I am looking at Uniformat for Assemblies Then that Assembly will also be related to the DGWALL also
Uniformat has items similar to your parts for walls B1010 WEB_1/2
Then the end result will also include Markers for the walls as well as a keynote. Similar to Revit.
One issue is the amount of parts available and then you cannot add DG infor to items that are not assemblies.
I hope this spans more conversation on parts thru DGWalls
