Building Dynamic View Question

New to dynamic views...

I created a building dynamic plan view and turned on "Unify" under the cut section
of the building attributes.
This toggle is unifying all my walls similar to the "Unify All" toggle in drawing extractions.
Is there a unify toggle that follows the part library unify settings?
When I run an extraction of the same floor, the walls unify correctly.
Thanks, Tom

  • Yes, I have Z unifiers setup for the parts.

But not a Z unifier in the parts "Section" settings

that applies to all of them.

  • Steve,
I may have confused the situation by bringing up a second issue regarding
custom linestyle point cells not showing in dynamic views. This is the issue
on which the TR was originally submitted and got inadvertently closed.

The unification issue is something that I just noticed and for which I have not submitted
    a service ticket.
Regarding unification, I have several unifiers for various types of walls.
In Cut Plane these unifiers are each associated with 4 different walls.
Therefore in Cut Plane only 4 walls associated with a particular unifier should clean with each other.
However, when I create a dynamic view all my walls are cleaning with each other
    ignoring the Cut Plane unifiers.

In my previous post, I attached images of the same file where I first ran an extraction with Cut Plane
at 4'-0" above the floor. Then in the same file, I created a dynamic view with cut plane 4'-0" above
the floor to illustrate how all the walls are cleaning.
As you can tell, the extraction is following my part library setup but the dynamic view is not.

I think additional confusion was introduced when I started talking about my F/R unifier.
In this instance, I do use a single "General Unifier" for F/R for instances where the wall is beyond the cut plane.
That way in a situation such as an elevation view of the wall I don't get the vertical line when transitioning
    from one wall to another.

This shouldn't have any impact on unification on walls in the cut plane.
To test this theory, I turned off all my F/R unfication in my part library and get the same result in cut plane.

To summarize, I can only get the output I have setup using the drawing extractions
and a different output using dynamic views.
Hope this helps clarify my two questions.
    Thanks, Tom

  • Steve,

The Service ticket that was filed for the point cells not being displayed

is ST 8000593508. It indicates that it is Open - TR/CR filed. However,

when I called to find out status they mentioned that it had been closed

    and resolved.

Unfortunately, the ST on my end doesn't indicate the TR number.

For wall parts not following my part library unification,

I just submitted ST 8000848401 and referenced this forum post.

Unfortunately until both of these are resolved I am stuck using extractions. :(

    Thanks, Tom

  • Tom, the TR resulting from that first ticket was # 263640, which was verified as being resolved in SELECTseries1.

Thanks for submitting a new ticket for the unification issue.  This will allow us to further investigate and either provide a solution or file a TR on your behalf.

  • Steve,

    I am using SELECTSeries1

    Microstation 08.11.07.187

    Architecture 08.11.07.80

and my linestyle point cells still don't display in Dynamic view.

However, they do display in a Drawing Extraction.

    (See PDF attachments from earlier.)

I also tried dynamic views using

    Architecture 08.11.07.77

    Architecture 08.11.07.69

    with the same results.

    Thanks, Tom

  • Hi Tom, you may need to log a new ticket for the linestyle aspect, noting that the latest release doesn't seem to be working.  But just to check, they aren't in the reflected view, correct?  I think that's one specific case that may still be unresolved.

Regarding the unification issue you're seeing, I'm not sure why it's happening but you should be able get individual per-part unification in your DV.

  • Steve,

After your post, I did some more testing with my part library.

It appears that it does have to do with my "General Part" unifier

in F/R view. If I set all my parts to unify in F/R to a single unifier

it overrides the part unification setup for Cut Plane unification.

It was apparent previously because it doesn't automatically change

the drawing when it is turned off and on. In order to see the effect,

I have to change the F/R view unfication toggle and then pull the

wall away and then extend it back to the wall.

With the Cut plane toggle the second you turn Unfication on or off

the change shows up in drawing.

So, it appears that dynamic "Cut" unification is not distinguishing

between part setting "unification" for "Cut" and "F/R". It is unifying

    based on worst case scenerio.

This is different than extractions which only unify in cut plane

based on the parts cut plane unfication and unifies in forward

view based only on the F/R part unification settings.

Give it a try and see if my theory is correct.

If you get the same results I will need to amend my Service Ticket.

I can provide my part library if you like.

    Thanks, Tom

  • Tom, why don't you go ahead and upload your part XML files to your service ticket.  Based on the simple test I just tried, we may need them.

  • Steve,

I have uploaded wall parts library, level library, and firerating linestyles

    to Support Ticket 8000848401

    Thanks, Tom

  • Steve,

I also created another ST 8000854386 regarding the linestyle point cell issue

and referenced the closed service ticket 8000593508 and previous TR 263640.

Any help you can provide in investigating or resolving the two issues

expressed in this post along with another ST 8000848406 BV Sensitive Distance not working

    will be greatly appreciated.

Until I can get these issues resolved our office can not move into

    world of dynamic views.

Best case is It maybe something I have set incorrectly.

    Thanks, Tom
