Why my message dont appear!!!!!!
hi BE com.
first, sorry for my bad english. i dont know if it's the good forum for my question. tell me if it's not the case.
We work with Microstation V8 2004 and Triforma. In 3d, to make sections, we use the drawings manager. It's ok, no pb. Recently, we want to migrate to V8I.
During a training, two things :
- we see that we need Architecture to have the same render (unifications, parts, family...).
-we try to use dynamics view but it doesn't work (why??? i dont know why but not important) so we decide to continue using the drawings manager like in Triforma.
So we have adapt our configurations (macro, mdl, cells,...) to V8I + Architecture.
At the begining of the first 3d project, i have a problem. Some cells or part of cells are not calculate by the DEM. they dont appears in the 2d view. But with Triforma, with the same cells, the same file, it's ok. i dont know why???
Is anyone have this pb and is anyone have a solution?
So i decide to return to V8 2004 + triforma for my project because i haven't time to solve the pb. But i retry to use the DV because it's great. and it's working. this time it's working. YES. at this time, i think that we are going to use the DV instead of the DEM and the pb is resolved.
Not to easy because using the DV create new problem.
I can make my 3d, create my construction view (unification, parts family...), create a 2d model and put in reference the construction view, put my text, cotation... ok my sheet is make. i can print the sheet (with the rasterized option). it's work.ok great so what's the pb!!!
I have to give the sheets to our partners and our customers in pdf (no pb) but in DWG too. when you export the sheet the render is not the same (no unification, no part and family rules...). it's a pb that i dont have when using DEM becaus it's calculate physics elements.
How can i make a 2d dgn or dwg sheet with the same render that in my 2d model in architecture to give to my customers (who have autocad or others...)??
If someone use the DV. Can he tell me how he work with his partners or customers when he give us the project.
thank for your answer.
bye
Just two very short comments from myself.
Otherwise migration worked quite problem free in our office at least.
"How can i make a 2d dgn or dwg sheet with the same render that in my 2d model in architecture to give to my customers (who have autocad or others...)??"
From your finished DV, choose File > Save As to create a new DGN file. But before you click OK, open the Options dialog and check the Merge Visible Edges option. This should generate a "vectorized" version of your DV; i.e., similar to what DEM does. It's a nice way of using DVs for the interim back & forth work, while still providing a DGN with "static" geometry as the end result. Take that new DGN and use it to save to DWG.
Hi steve
thanks for your answer.
I try but bad rendering. all the "parts and family rules" diseapeared and there is no unification...
The only way i found, when i'm in 3d with a referenced construction view, is to use "export visibles edge".
it's the only way to conserve the parts rules and unification and have a 2d desing with physics element.
But i'm not going to make my text and annotations in 3d. In 2d when i references construction view, i put text and annotations... but the option "export visible edge is not available in 2d. so...
Steve did you use Architecture ? are you using parts and family? have you the same render (unification...) when you export with this option?
Yes, I have done this process using Architecture before, though to be honest I just haven't had the need for a while. But I know there are others that also do this and I haven't heard of any issues recently.
What is the eight digit version of Bentley Architecture you are using?
I use BA 08.11.07.80. i think it's the last version.
Yes i have read a lot af articles of people like me who ask the same question and dont use DV for this.
It's crazy that we can't do a 2d independant file when we work with Dynamics views in Bentley Arch. Because, for me, i work with civil engeneering, architect... and we have to exchange sheets, mostly in dwg.
So i search...and i saw the light. lol.
I have found something interresting that is working...but a bit heavy.
But i test with a few number of cell for the moment not either on a real project.
The only way to keep unification, parts and family rules...and to make an independant sheet is to use "export visibles edge". But you must be in 3d to have this option so :
1- i make a 3d model. i draw what i have to draw.
2- i make a dynamic view that's going to be references in a 2d model.
3- i put my text, annotations...
So my sheet is ok ready to be export.
4- i return on the 3d model and i click on "export visibles edges" in Files. the Box appears.
5- i return on the 2d model where is my sheet with text and annotations. And the box is still working. Just select a view.
You have to select "export in a 3d file" because in a 2d file text explodes even if you don't click the option. "Overview" dont work in this case. but when you export, you have your same sheet (in a 3D model file and in .hln) with your text, annotation and it keep unification and all BA rules.
6- You have just to export the .hln file in 2d or you import it in a 2d file.
And you have an independant file in dgn or dwg that can be send. Like if you have use the DEM but with the DV.
Give me your opinion on this method.
I think it can be better with a macro or a mdl to automate this method.
Regarding the workflow you've described... I'll take your word for it. :) Seriously though, I just tried a simple example and it seemed to work OK. Try it again if you could using the settings I've shown below, and selecting only the sheet model from the Filter tab > Models button.
Hi Steve
Thanks.
Ok it's working. i don't understand why.
But not with the "convert ref file" option. I have to click "merge display level only" to be ok.
Before, when i try, in my home, with this option it doesn't work.
But in my home, i have Bentley select1 and here, at my job, i have Select2!!! it"s the only reason i see.
So it's great. With this method (to make independant file) and the DV, it's look like better than the DEM.
I'm thinking about how working in my agency because we are going to migrate to V8i+BA and all people are not going to have Architecture. The most easy is with DEM (independant file can be read with V8I only) but...to long and not great.
Another question for you. Some cells or part of cells are not calculate by the DEM in BA. they dont appears. But with the old Triforma, with the same cells, the same file, it's ok. i dont know why???
Have you an idea.
Thank you very much steve.
Bye.
Sorry Steve but another question.
you have resolved one of my problem. the biggest. bu ti have almost 2.
One that i describe in my precedent message and the other is : how can i print the sheet (made with a DV with unification, parts...) to have the good i want ? i say that "rasterized" have to be click. but when i make an overview with my color table, i dont have the good color in my overview. Some are good and some are the same that the screen??
