Spaces - Edit Space Issues

Parents
  • Hi Matt,

One issue I have with the "Creating Space by flood" tool.

If I create a form with ''Create Slab By Flood'' with a non-curved boundary shape, after deleting the boundary shape the create space tool will recognize the enclosed area of the form on the full 'z' axis ie at any given elevation given by the floor management system. So far so good.

If on the other hand the boundary shape is curved or partly curved, then the following happens:

the space tool does not recognize the enclosed area of the resulting form if the form top is on or below (negative z) the current ACS plane OR if the form base is above the current ACS plane. If the form base is exactly on the current ACS, the space is recognized.

This applies also to any solid containing curves created by other methods such as extrusion etc.

    Bentley Architecture V8i 08.11.07.87.

  • The other thing I've noticed with the space labels is when I reference a dynamic plan view in a drawing sheet, the maximum distance from the clipping plane to the label seems to be stuck on 3002mm... Any further away and the label disappears in the drawing...  No matter how much I increase the Forward component of the clip volume sensitive distance...Is this set somewhere obscure or is this a wee bug? BA 08 11 07 88 update.

  • What is the proper way to change color to spaces after placed in a model? iI assume if i were to change the part color this would change all drawings...what am i missing? This does not appear to be working.

  • Once they are placed they are "instances" and will have the symbology that the part definiton had when it was placed.

After the definiton is changed, use the "Apply Part" tool for instances of spaces already in the model. Select "Apply Part", set the Family and Part in the Tool Settings, toggle on "Apply Part's Default Symobology" and select the space.

Another way to access the tool: when in Element Selection, hover over the space and right-press on your mouse the right-press menu opens and you can select Apply Part from the menu.

One way to select multiple spaces to perform the action on is to use the DataGroup Explorer. In the DataGroup Explorer set te drop don list to "Show Used", select the Space catalog type, highlight the desired spaces (use <shift> and\or <ctrl> to select multiple spaces), right click and select "Create Select Set" run the "Apply Part" tool.
