I have created a compound wall type and have successfully placed it as a straight wall.
However when I try to place it as an arc (edge or center) it disappears on the final click. The screengrab shows what I see before the final click.
The wall consists of two layers of blockwork separated by a cavity and finished each side with two layers of plasterboard with a timber skirting. I have tried with simpler compound walls (defined by me) but it still does not work. The wall types included in the Uniclass GB dataset that I am using place as I would expect.
I am using Bentley Architecture Select Series 1 08.11.07.87
Thanks,Thomas
Interesting... did you create the compound wall from scratch, or copy an existing one? I just tried a quick test with the latter using the US-NCS dataset, and that seemed to work OK.
I created the compound wall from scratch. Following your suggestion I copied and edited one of the definitions in the Dataset Explorer. This worked for a simple wall consisting of two leaves of blockwork separated by a cavity. However when I added plasterboard to one of the sides it would not place as an arc.
Hmm... I'm still not seeing that, even after adding a fourth leaf to my custom part.
I would recommend filing a Service Ticket with support in order to follow up on this one. I'm guessing there's something specific to the dataset coming into play.
Hi Steve
This is an old (very old) issue.
With the walls side by side everything is fine, but if you try to put one above the other with more than two elements the tool no longer works. As I have said is an old problem that I reported about a year ago(06-24-2010 ST number 8000849902). At that time the tool was not working even with only two overlapping walls. After some misunderstanding at last on 08-19-2010 I've got a:
TR# 301512
Product: Architecture V8i
Version: 08.11.07.80
Area: Modeling, Problem ID#: 48648, TROUBLEREPORT
Unfortunately, I sent an example with only two overlapping walls and the tool was corrected only for two walls. It seemed to me so ridiculous that I had no desire to insist on hoping that sooner or later, someone will notice and correct.
Ciao
Leonardo
Ah... I see, it's the vertical offset that prevents it being placed as an Arc wall. Odd one! I'll have to check on the status of that TR.
