DG annotations moves to center of object (window, door)

On the sheet model, if I place a DG annotation for a window or door (ID) and then turn off and on the "Dynamic View" floor plan reference, the DG moves to the center of the object. See before and after pictures below.  How can I make the DG annotation stay where I placed it in the first place?  This also occurs if the "Dynamic View is updated.

  • Hi Travis,

    1. Is there a way to get BV to look at a particular Ref attachment only, or Ref+level, when generating the annotations? I think this is possible with DEM using multiple views in the definition. Multiple Refs are sometimes desirable or unavoidable.

    2. Clip volume plane cut: Can you explain more? Will the rule now work with Forward/Reflected views? Can the range be set independent of the DV clip volume? Again, possible with DEM?

I do not think so, but I have not tried.  My recommendation would be to use the Hide Annotation (right-press on the tag you want to hide and choose "Hide Annotation") to turn off the tags that you do not want to appear for that particular drawing.  You can bring the tag back later by right-press "Show Annotation"

Prior to Building Designer rule-based annotation in DV's could only be applied to BIM elements that were cut by the Clip Volume cut-plane.  This has changed in Building Designer where rule-based DG Annotation can be applied to the Forward/Reflected Views.  As stated above, I do not believe that you will be able to specify which references get or do not get DG annotation.  You could probably achieve this by using Criteria Set for the 'Based On' setting instead of Building Elements (DataGroup), but this would probably have to be on a per project basis most likely.

  • Seems like something that should be on the roadmap.

Will Drawings Rules be opened up to allow end user customisation?

Speedikon's Viewfilters allow a lot of customisation.

Even, the old DesignScript / Iplot macros seem more flexible than Drawing Rules currently?

Bentley Map / OpenPlant / Power Civils have Property Based Annotation, XFM etc.

Even GC could be used as a front end for 'post processing' like Grasshopper/Chrysalis, using Axioms' Global File Changer code modules? Actually, you could just use the existing DEM code to post process the BV output?

-yes.  there are delivered templates for Drawing Rules, but these are customizable by the user.

  • Anything in DEM that is not in BV's??
