Placing Section Call outs on multiple drawings

I am using the AutoCAD Style of sheet set up,  referencing Drawings into model views of sheets, and then self referencing the model view of the sheet into its sheet file.
Call outs are created in the drawings, (Supposedly the recommended procedure).
however Section call outs placed on the drawings are not showing through onto the sheets even though the view display dialog indicates that an element does exist on the level within the attached drawing.

Placing Callouts on Multiple Drawings is also a problem.  The Section markers initially created on drawings are generated through onto other drawings by going to the saved view dialog and navigating to the active links, selecting section views, then generate call out.  The call out appears on the drawing  but does not appear on the corresponding sheet when opened.

If you try generating the callout within the sheet itself , it appears very briefly and then promptly vanishes.

Is there a setting I have overlooked?

  • Jyde, I'm facing exactly the same problem on the same workflow...

  • Anyone out there who would know the answer to this?

Right-clicking on a Saved View is suppoed to get us to ''Generate Callout'' item - that presumably allows displaying the section marker in any view exactly as in the original.

On my version 376 of ABD, I have this "Generate Callout" always greyed out...

Is there another way to place a section callout on ALL plans as architects normally do???

  • Right here is what I came across by tryin to use the callouts for cross sections and displaying callouts on all my plans...

Creating a cross section on a sheet (plan view) will create a view and a drawing (if you check the create drawing box). From there you can reference that drawing into another sheet.

If you open other plan sheets and show the markers (view attibute) you should now see the new marker associated with that new section (and all the other markers for that matter) - then go to the mini toolbar and show the callouts and bingo. You can then hide the markers when you're done with the callout display.

Problem is (but it must be I'm missing somethin) that the callout inputs automatically a sheet name which is the name of the sheet in which the callout was created (instead of the target sheet name)... AND additionally, if you change the sheet names to agree with the target file name on one plan sheet, or in the master model, you will see you have to do all over again in the next plan sheet.... Weird. I hope I am wrong, please someone...
