Hello
This seems increasingly popular
http://bimobject.com/
There are a couple of other similar resources on the go (don't know how good they really are)
There seems to be a serious absence of Microstation/AECOSim ready objects and components available via the web.
What are Bentley doing about this?
Certainly as architects, a lot of the time (most of the time), we don't need to be fiddling around 'designing' our own doors, windows and furniture, you just need a fairly basic door/window (like a place holder), then as the design progresses, you replace those with doors/windows from door and window manufacturing. We don't need to be re-inventing the wheel for these bread and butter type things (and grappling with frame builder and gasp ..... PC studio)
it doesn't look good when one is evaluating which BIM solution to invest in!
It was announced on Tuesday at the Bentley LEARNing Conference that AECOsim Building Designer will soon be able to bring in native RFA content through the RFA interpreter. There should be a public beta this summer and a release next year. Very exciting news!!!

Soon ?? Next year seems very long time to wait.

You can change walls' geometry (locked width in datagroup) trough the handles or even the TF Modify Form tool. So a wall of 190 width in the datagroup could be in geometry, and even used as Quantity Takeoff, something else. Which is strange because you think that you locked this value through the datagroup system. It's only locked the first time you place the wall, but after that there is no 'connection' anymore between datagroup and geometry...
Hmm.... If I'm understanding the issue correctly, I'm not seeing that behavior in .572.
A wall with an non-editable width (checkbox in the DataGroup Catalog Editor) IS editable by its geometry (handles or Modify Form tool), even in the latest version SS4.
When you select a wall from your predefined DataGroup Catalog, it is drawn with the correct width. But after it's placement it is possible to edit the wall's geometry (especially unfortunate when this happens by accident, and you aren't aware of this change).
So you think the width is uneditable because you unchecked the box in the DG Catalog Editor, but after placement this certainty is lost...

I think I'm having a related problem with this PAZ file/ Datagroup linkage. Basically it was intended to be editable in the view window and provide dynamic width/height information for any given instance/placement. (very simple - generally I'm wary of PCS studio)
However if one edits the handles it simply stays at width =0, height = 0 in datagroup explorer, no matter what.
But if I right click in datagroup explorer and select 'edit' the correct width and height info comes up in the modify dialogue box.
But in an imodel, ODBC driver at least the width and height always show up as either 0 or some v.large number.
I'm using v .376, and PAZ file is attached
