AECOsim Building Designer - File Sizes?

Hello,

Can anyone explain why, when using dynamic views the file size of sheets and drawings get enormous? We are having files – and these do only contain references and there is not a single line drawn in it which get up to 100MB. We are using a lot of cached references as otherwise it would be impossible to work with.

What does AECOsim (SS4, 08.09.11.593) load into these files? Compressing them squeezes them down back to a few KB but it does take some time and large files are
difficult to share.

Thanks,

 Johannes

  • Johannes,

ABD caches the visible edge settings and unification information for the Dynamic Views into the file to improve the graphics performance of the file.  The increasing file size does not mean reduced performance. In fact it really means the opposite, in that the greater the view is cached the faster the graphics performance when navigating the dynamic view.  Compressing DV Accelerators does clear this cached information, but will also slow the graphics performance of the file.
