Hello,
Can anyone explain why, when using dynamic views the file size of sheets and drawings get enormous? We are having files – and these do only contain references and there is not a single line drawn in it which get up to 100MB. We are using a lot of cached references as otherwise it would be impossible to work with.
What does AECOsim (SS4, 08.09.11.593) load into these files? Compressing them squeezes them down back to a few KB but it does take some time and large files aredifficult to share.
Thanks,
Johannes
Few details on File compress:
As Travis mentions earlier, an increased file size when working with Dynamic Views does not necessarily mean reduced performance, instead it would be beneficial for faster performance as it includes the unification cache.
Thanks Pradnya, that certainly clarifies a few things.
Is this in the help ?
It should be.

MicroStation help > Preferences Dialog, Operation Category > Compress File on Exit says:
"If off (the default), the active design file is not automatically compressed when closed. The compression operation permanently removes elements marked for deletion."
Accurate but worth expanding...
So 'Compress File on Exit ' is of limited value and I now understand why it is not recommended.

mm - thanks a lot.
Those wikis begin to be worth looking at.
Think if they could be included in the search result from ustn>help>search.
There is ustn menu > help > Be Communities.
Linking from within the help .chm files would limit flexibilty. Maintaining links between product help and the wiki, an inherently flexible structure, would be challenging.
