How can I change the hatch / color of a 3D element?

Hi Folks,

How can I change the hatch / color of a 3D element? (pic see attached)

Q: Do I change the hatch in 3D model or in the sheet?

Q: How I can do this? (Step by Step would be fine)

Q: How I can organize that the hatch is associative to different scale, means 1:50/1:100, ? Maybe there is an change to arrange a simulation that at scale >100 the wall are all colerd black and < 100 all walls are with hatch

Thanks Konrad

  • If I understand your question correctly, the cut plane hatch is controlled via the Part definition from within Dataset Explorer.

  • Hi Steve

    Your anser is not wrong!

But it is possible an existend hatch on an 3d model to change, or must I do this always on the Dataset Explorer?

How I must do this, if i like an solid with color?

B t w: If i create an slap, there is no hatch. Do you know why?  Then I came of a tricky idear, to change a slap over the "building elemt info" to a Family: wall component / concrete, and so i got an hatch.

I have the feeling that the program is in field of graphic an real desaster. I have expirience with other programs like Archicad and Arriba, there you have any option to choose out what hatch or color to like an can change in every plan, model section.....

    Thanks Konrad

  • Konrad, you are referring to a 3D model but your PDF shows a drawing view (referenced into a sheet).  That drawing is resymbolized per the part's settings, one of which is the hatch/pattern.

Perhaps I don't completely understand how you're thinking about changing the hatch settings.

  • Hi Steve,

thats right, it is a sheet, ref from a model. It was for an better understandig what I mean. Other program are able, to change the pattern in a 3D model, for example over a doppelklick on the wall and then I can choose out an other material, coler or what ever. Is simpel and easy and efficent, but at AECOsim is nothing common. Fare fare away from other program.

But with your help, I figured out how I can change all pattern for a wall. I thing is not possible that a user have the option to decide what to put on the plan or not.

    Thanks Konrad
