Hi,
I'm going through the learning path for Parametric Cell Studio Fundamentals and every time I go to close a 2D shape (even basic shapes) it crashes.
Is this an issue with my pc or is this a fault being caused by something else?
That definitely doesn't sound right! Which building product and version do you have installed? How about your OS and graphics card?
If this is a true crash, you may (or should) have an exception log and minidump file under C:\Users\your.name\AppData\Local\Temp\Bentley\<product name>\8.xx\eR_5z_9gzQxmBI6Olu-MiQ\ExceptionHistory\ExceptionHistory-xx with a recent timestamp. That information could be useful for determining where the crash is occurring.
I am using AECOsim Building Designer V8i (SELECTseries 4) - Version 08.11.09.593
I am running Windows 8 and my graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 620.
I've found that Notepad file but it full of data that is meaningless to me. What should I be looking for?
Windows 8 should be fine, and it looks like your graphics card is running OpenGL 4.2. Just for kicks, go to the nVidia control panel > 3D Settings > Managed 3D Settings, and choose MicroStation from the pick-list on the Program Settings tab. What is "OpenGL rendering GPU" set to?
You can attach the *.log file from the \exception history folder here since it is just a text file. I'm not sure I can make much of it either, but it's worth a try.
Also, what driver version are you currently running for your GT620?
I'm struggling to locate the 'OpenGL rendering GPU' option.
I'm running driver version 311.06
OK, thanks for checking. I was hoping our cards would be similar to enough to include the same options. I'm running a Quadro 1000M w/ driver 310.90. You could try modifying the Mult-display/mixed-GPU Acceleration option and change it to Compatibility Performance Mode. Just a guess on my part, of course, since it's not the same OpenGL itself, but worth a try.
Also, in PCS, if you choose Window > Tile and shrink the view window just a little so that it's not maximized, does that help?
