Hi,
Does anyone know how I can create a Definition File to add to a DataGroup Catolog item, which would return geometric values relating to the modelled items?
For example: I draw a number of horizontal planes at different levels, and "Add Instance Data" to place them in the catalog. I then want their Z-values to report in DataGroup Explorer.
The slab tool somehow achieves this via the SlabQuantities.xsd definition file, which returns a "Top of Slab" figure. Unfortunately I can't replicate this even by adding the SlabQuantities.xsd to my Catalog Item.
Any suggestions appreciated...

DO I see the hint of an elevation marker???

Do I see the Hint of a elevation symbol?
Yes Eric, that's essentially what I'm trying to create - a dynamic level marker that takes its information from a level plane in the model. Its easily done with a cell reporting its own Y value in 2D drawings (or Z value in 3D) but I'd like to add a little more sophistication and have it actually report on the level plane.
your cell reporting its Z - have you done one?

Thomas,
What I've got so far works to a degree... If you place an active point in the cell, you can then add a text field formula which returns any values for this point, including the z value. It means that as you move the cell the value changes.
I don't have a way of getting this to "report" into DataGroup explorer though, which is really what I want to do.
One other difficulty is that the Z value changes to a Y value in a dynamic view and hence different datagroup annotation cells are required in 3D and 2D.
