In Manage DataGroup Annotation there don't appear to be adequate settings to control the number format for quanities fields for the cells.
For example, I'm working with spaces and want to create a DataGroup annotation which returns the space name and the area in square metres. When I place the "Area Actual" the only format option I get is "Area Preference" (or custom).
I've found that "Area Preferences" are located in Workspace Preferences - an obscure location, which creates a number of problems. Workspace preferences are user specific so there is no way to control the output for multiple users. The setting is not locked-in when the cell is placed - therefore if a user has the units set differently (say sq.mm) the readout will change formats if they edit or change the space. There are no options with regard to the accuracy of the number - I always get 1 decimal place. I don't seem to be able to change the display units either.
What I think is required are options within the Manage DataGroup Annotation menus which act like the options in the Text Editor's standard Insert Fields Editor. Here the area format can be selected in terms of units, unit decorators, and accuracy. Including this within the Manage DataGroup Annotation tool would allow the tags to be setup to perform in a consitent and controlled manner.
Has anyone else found a better way to the quanities output in spaces tags? Does anyone know whether a custom VBA could easily be shared to solve this problem?

Hi Mark
There are 2 configs that may help control this centrally.
TFANNOTATE_AREAPRECISION = 2
_ATFSPACES_DISPLAY_UNITS = sq m
These are listed in the AU PCF toward the bottom.
