Hi,
In building designer model we have linked our section/elevation/plan/detail call-outs to PDF drawings.
So when you click on a call-out it opens the PDF.
However, when we export to IFC there are no callouts that open PDFs.
Does anybody know why this might be the case?
I.e. Does the building designer file need to be collated or packaged in some way prior to exporting to IFC format?
Any help much appreciated.
IFC is not designed to support proprietary DGN features like our callout links.
You may be able to add an approriate internet URL accessing PDF (if the PDF can be accessed via a URL) as a value of an appropriate property, if there is one.

So are the targets of the links individual pages or bookmarks within the PDF binder?
Which elements in the DGN are you linking to the PDF targets?

We haven't trialed the Binder approach yet as we cant get a single pdf to retain its link when translating to IFC!
We are happy to just link to the pdf binder as a file and not necessarily the specific drawing in the binder. This would put the FM operators in the right ballpark etc.
What we are trying to do is use our model as an as-built record for the architectural elements which lie within our responsibility and link say, an element of the facade to a pdf of the sub contractor record drawings as they will not be updating the model. We can attach a pdf link to the drawing in the Aecosim model but cant seem to get the links to translate through - is it a mapping issue? - If its not going to work is their a way to achieve what we would like to do by linking the IFC output to a pdf so that the link is retained in most IFC viewers?

When using Solibri Model Viewer, it seems that only files first edited using Solibri Model Checker will support hyperlinks:
www.solibri.com/.../help.html
I wonder if anyone has been able to include "native" hyperlinks in IFC files?
