A section is a cut through the 3d-model.
An elevation is different. It shows the face of something, or perhaps more correct, the projection of an object/s to a plane.
So I looked forward to use PLACE ELEVATION CALLOUT > INTERIOR ELEVATION. Cool tool.
But my testing suggests it produces SECTIONS, not elevations.
It does exclude a wc chair - but not other geometry at the location of the callout that don't reach to the wall at the direction of the callout.
I can still place a separate elevation-callout very close to the wall. But that nukes the beauty of placing all four elevation of a room in one go.

Have you tried increasing the Sense Distance of the Forward View to treat elements that are not cut by the Interior Elevation Callout's location, but you still want to be treated as cut? Also, most compound cells do not have Front/Side Symbols so it is typical that forward symbols are turned off.

I see far enough in front view - that's not the problem.
What I want you to confirm is that it is a SECTION, not a true elevation of something.

It is a Saved View with a Clip Volume applied. With that said, if the clip plane were to cross a Wall, then yes it would section through that wall. So in the truest sense, yes it is a section. However, in reality an interior elevation (as a CAD drawing) is a section of a building that is clipped at the bounding walls. The intent of the interior elevation tool is to give you the same capability and allow you to determine the extents of the elevation by shrinking the clip boundary or clipping the reference. There are companies that i know that include the wall thickness in their interior elevations and may include objects above the ceiling height (at the cut plane) if the ceiling is a different height at the wall (light coves or floating ceilings). Therefore the tool really needs to have section capabilities, but allow the user to crop the extents of the viewing plane to remove the sectioned elements from view if needed.
In terms of Project Explorer's categorization of the Interior Elevation it is NOT a Section and Interior Elevations would be harvested separately from Sections.

In my words it is a section then. And should be called sections
It is a cool tool and speed things up.
But if you have any other form of the room than strictly rectangular you are in for surprices.
You can always clip the reference to any shape that you want on the sheet to accommodate non-rectangular interior elevations of non-rectangular rooms. See the attached image as an example.

I think I know the tricks - but no tricks can help if you if the room is wider at one end.
And your example is revealing - you should see the wall behind, not the doors.
Do you mean you would want to see it like this?
