Hi,
I’ve just installed the SS5 AECOsim building designer on a machine with a new installed win7 operating system (PC complete reformatted) . Everything installed fine, except AECOsim. Staring up works, until I get the message: Microsoft Visual Basic – License information for this component not found. You do not have an appropriate license to use this functionality in the design environment.
Then I can hit 20 times OK and AECOsim starts, after some commands, the message coms back, even so for closing the application.
I’ve uninstalled the complete installation, and reinstalled it, same result. (admin rights )
Again, with a preinstall for the older versions, no result
I’ve installed the MS Visual Studio (express) , reinstalled AECOsim, no result
What else can I do to make the application working, I am an experienced user, but I can’t find a solution for this issue.

Since it's a new machine, try installing the MicroStation Desktop Prerequisites. That particular error usually does indicate that some part of the VBA sub-system is missing, so it's possible that these files are simply missing (vs. a machine that has had previous installs).
Also, when you wrote that you installed with admin rights, do you mean with Windows UAC turned off?
Steve,
Yes, the user account control is set to "never" and have administrator rights
And yes I've preinstalled the prerequisites 8.11.7.03
I had heard that installing Visual Studio could solve the problem but even that had no result.
I don't know what to do.
Is there an uninstall method with complete registry cleanup I can try?
thanks in advance, Rik
Hi Rik,
Questions:
Which language is your Windows set to?
Which language of ABD have you installed and whcih version?
Suggestion:
Try a repair install of Microsoft Office (assuming it is installed), this is just a guess, but that might fix VBA.
Marc
I think you mean 08.11.09.03 and there is no method to completely uninstall a program except using third party tools to perform an uninstall.
What you need to check is whether you have the following files in the extracted Prerequisites folder VBAOF11.MSI and VBAOF11I.MSI. If not then the prerequisites are not fully extracted. If you do have them than install them manually and to start AECOsim to see if you still get the message.

Apparently I'm not the only one with problems related to VBA.
"Wouldn't have happened with Linux" comes into my mind...
Meant all in good fun… Well, on one hand this might not have happened on Linux (or whatever flavor of UNIX you want to substitute). However, on the other hand you would not have a language system like VBA on Linux. Be careful of what you wish for…
