We are still having a couple of problems since Bentley changed the ifc exporter. On the plus side, the file sizes have gone down by about 50%.
The attached screenshot shows the same model, the left side exported by SS3, the right side by SS5. As you can see, both the file structure is different, bot also the colours of the objects.
Let's focus on the colour on this thread. The one green wall on the top of the building is selected, that explains the green colour in both models. But if you have a look at the other objects, almost everything is white in SS5, regardless of if it is a wall or a slab.
Why that - and how can I change that?
Other questions: Why does it show different disciplines - SS3 shows Structural (correct), SS5 shows Architectural (wrong)?
Andreas,
Try creating another IFC without the optimizer selected. The file size will be bigger, but it may solve the issue with the color. In early testing we saw a similar thing happen with mechanical components. I did file an SR about the issue, but I do not know if it was resolved prior to the ss5 release.
Same result regarding colours without the optimizer selected.
File size is a bit bigger, but still around 40% smaller than SS3.
Problem is related to if objects exported are within a reference or not. Objects within the original file have correct colours, objects within references have wrong colours.
SR 7000148263 filed.
We have also filed an SR with the exact same problem. (References)
Hi Ingemar,
Can you reply back with that SR#? Thanks.
I believe it's 7000103792, it's owned by a co worker and deals with several issues.
It looks as though the SR you've logged may be different than what Andreas had described in this thread. Whereas yours is describing an issue where the DGN level is not translating to the correct IFC layer name, Andreas' issue is that the colors are changing for elements in references - even though the Level > Layer mapping is correct. I was able to create a small test demonstrating this so I will file a defect.
