Is there a config to set the location of this resource separately to TFDIR_SETTING? By default, if someone changes the List of columns in Dataset Explorer, it makes the edit in the Dataset rather than the User folder (which is where it should happen).
Nigel,
TFDATASET_EXPLORERSETTINGS is a configuration variable that specifies the location and name of TFDSExplorerSettings.rsc. This is an old undocumented configuration variable that really has not been maintained so there are some limitations to it, but it will prevent it from creating in $(TFDIR)setting/ folder. You can not define the location using configuration variables (Bentley variables or Environment Variables), it must be hard-coded. You can specify the location only, or the location and the name of the RSC.
Examples:
TFDATASET_EXPLORERSETTINGS = C:\Windows\Temp\
TFDATASET_EXPLORERSETTINGS = C:\Windows\Temp\DatasetExplorerSettings.rsc
I hope this helps,
Travis

Hey Travis. That's great, but a hardcoded explicit path is useless in a team/networked environment. CR time!
Thanks by the way!
You are welcome. I feel the same way about the hard-coding, but at least it gets it out of the dataset level. If you use a configuration variable in the value of TFDATASET_EXPLORERSETTINGS is will create a file called the name of the variable.rsc. Example: .../Datasets_XX/settings/$(_USTN_HOMEPREFS).rsc
