Hi
We are using AECOsim building designer V81 (SELECT Series 3) and are forming our 2D model files via the DEM.
We are having problems with extracted curves which, when extracted do not maintain their geometry and are converted to B-splines - this is becoming very problematic especially when we get to annotation stages and cannot pull out a dia or angle. It also produces extremely erratic results at times which bare very little resemblance to the original curves which are based on a sound/regular geometry.
Is there any way to prevent AECOsim from converting everything to a cell or b-spline during extraction? Any advice will be most welcome.
Thanks
It's hard to say without knowing more detail about the elements you're extracting and the orientation of the extraction. For example, elements such as Arc Walls, Round Columns, Slabs with fillets, etc., when extracted from a true plan perspective, would typically be extracted as arcs and ellipses vs. b-splines.
On the other hand, the classic "cup viewed at angle" scenario would result in a b-spline since only when viewed orthogonally would the cups opening be a true circle.
Hi Steve
Thanks again for the reply - attached is an example of the issue we are having.
This handrail was modeled by extruding a circle along a path, the resulting plan extraction is a little wild and is formed entirely of b-splines.
Hopefully I've managed to upload the pic describing the above...
Any ideas?
It is much better if you can provide the dgn. Or part of it.

When viewed in the 3D model, is your element structured something like attached?
FWIW, this was created using the MicroStation "Solid By Extrusion Along" tool.
Thanks Steve
Mine looks like this....the beginning of the problem perhaps?
Also created using the 'Solid by Extrusion Along' tool. However the path was created by joining seperate elements using the 'Create Complex Chain/Shape' tool - could this be the issue?
