With the old Stair Maker, I can get the stair to end at the landing, but the 2D information isn't there.
But, with the new Stair tool I can't get the stair to finish on the landing. It creates an extra tread at the end. And I can't see it in the elevation.
This is what they look like side by side.
How do I get the new Stair tool to create the stair the old way ?

Unfortunately the new Stair Tool does not support that. You will have to use either the Stair Maker Tool or create the stairs using MicroStation modeling tools.
Unfortunately? It is now many years that this misfortune haunts us, at least with the stair maker tool. I'd like to know why with open stairs you ca set the arrival at landing with a riser while with the closed ones can not be. It is only a matter of bad luck (so to speak)?

This sounds like Defect 18611: "Placing a stair with top placement point and starting with a landing will not create the landing correctly". I believe there may be other similar scenarios, so yes, we do have fixes to make...
Regarding why we retain both, it's mainly because the older tool still has uses; e.g., spiral stairs that are not possible in the newer tool.
It's amazing how casually Bentley talks about a problem that has been dragging on for years as if it happened last week. So how long we have to wait to have a stairs tool that features according to the needs of a designer?
And finally, this problem has nothing to do with the stairs insertion point; just try to realize that the ptoblem occurs regardless of the insertion point of a closed staircase. Instead it seems to me that it is due to the fact that the landing is not treated as a thread (a particular thread) of the staircase.
Is the stair tool just intended as a Sketch tool before the final product as the handrails are just sketch tools.
