Hi
Can anybody knows how create shutter door parametrically? I have a project that requires shutter doors. Please help otherwise Revit will again get this project of mine the 3rd time.
Thanks,
V
My first question - why the parametric?
If you just want to make a few or even a dozen
It can be much simpler to make a compound cell
Copy it a dozen time
Open each and stretch and add more fins
I spent too much time in many cases trying to make PCS fit everything.
But all my project have to render too and that just made it easier to create compound cells for many things
EXAMPLE:
If it is a plain old door that you draw in a plan 100 times and do not real rendering then fine.
But if you have to place that door in 8 different color schemes and they all require a major change like applying different materials to the 100 doors that are composed of 3 different types of doors at 8 colors which requires to to create 24 different PCS doors. IT is much easier to place one hundred doors, then create 8 variations as Compound Cells and then replace the doors as needed with the replace cell tool.
There is a time and place for parametrics. It would be easier if you had parametrics in the compound cell. You can do that now but I might wait for future things to happen.

I would also like to offer another option that you may want to consider, the is a tool in the SS5 release called the RFA interpreter. Without going into great detail, it will allow you to find any cell that you like and add it to the data group system within AECOsim Building Designer.
I you already have, or upgrade to, AECOsim Building Designer SS5 you may be able to find appropriate manufacturer's components in RFA format to use within ABD via our RFA Interpreter. If the RFA contains parametric properties these will be usable in ABD (subject to the quality of the original RFA).
You can create a shutter door using Parametric Cell Studio as mentioned in response your previous thread about Sliding Doors.
Just curious:
a) what kind of shutter doors are you looking for?
b) what level of detail/definition do you or the ultimate users of your data require for these doors? (What project stage are you at?)
c) how many of these doors are there in your project? Is it, for instance, a distribution centre where an entire wall is just a row of loading bay doors or are there just one or two in a service bay?
