Is anyone aware of a file conversion solution to bring REVIT files into AECOsim? I've been provided working arch. DWG's, but structural, and mechanical is in REVIT. I'm hoping to use it as a reference/overlay for piping/plumbing coordination drawing creation. Thanks in advance.
You might look into Bentley's Integrated Structural Modeling (ISM) to move a Revit model into the world of Bentley structural products. For HVAC, I don't know of a method. You might have to import into an I-model or dgn via IFC and then trace over it. That's what we have to do with Revit plumbing models when they been used to create process piping and we need to generate isometrics (spool fabrication sheets) using Isogen, etc. Unfortunately that's a cost the client has to bear due to lack of Integration between BIM and ISO 15926 platforms.
Haven't tried it, but if you have Revit than i-model might be the best solution. Otherwise ifc or dwg.
The best solution would be using the i-model plugin for Revit and save the file to i.dgn just as Andreas mentioned.
Unfortunately, the issue is I don't have access to Revit. Neither does my client. Only the architects who created the drawings, using Revit, who are being stubborn.
Before having V8, and using V7, I used to have to use TruView or a DWG/DXF converter to downgrade a file to be able to import into the older V7. I was just hoping there was a similar (free) solution to translate Revit files to AutoCAD to eventually translate that to Microstation. Perhaps there isn't any and I'll just have to hope the architects take the time to convert the files themselves.

THe transformation workflows should be agreed between parties possibly at the begging of the BIM project.
Next time try to put it all down in the BxP.
I-model plugin for Revit in this case works just well as previously mentioned.

Stubborn architects can be a problem, ususally that can be solved by defining a standard for document exchange at the beginning.
Haven't experienced any problems with architects after that, open standards like ifc is something anyone must be able to deliver. After all, Revit is not that dominant throughout the whole production process (think of steel production drawings, e.g.).
