Good afternoon,
If I have a door that is a steel bar door (Security door) so with significant air gaps and openings, how would I model that within the materials manager?
Effectively there is no thermal resistance created by the door being there so should be modelled as an opening within a partition wall, how do I model this?
Does Open Buildings Energy Simulator model inter room/zone air mixing/changes?
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi John,
I would suggest that the approach to take for this may depend on what calculations you wish to run, with perhaps the most suitable for Heat Gain/Loss calculations being to trace the rooms as normal and add an internal door. When you do so it will be seen across both adjacent rooms, eg as below:
You will then need to tweak the door properties in Material Manager so that it does not impinge on the heat flow across the rooms, by manually entering a negligible U-value - eg the maximum permitted is 15 as below:
Hope that helps with your designs.
Regards,
Shane
