 Within the building is a retail space which is not fit out, for the PART L calc would this space be inserted as unheated and no lighting etc or would we include heating and lighting as per other spaces in the building. 
 Is it possible to detail the room as shell only. 
 Also in hevacomp V8i there was a standard room option which was selected for each room to apply to the Part L calc, is there anything similar we need to do in energy simulator. 
 Can you also advise on any upcoming training for energy simulator and Part L

Hi Steve, 
 There seems to be a few different topics here so I have broken them down below: 
 
 1. Within the building is a retail space which is not fit out, for the PART L calc would this space be inserted as unheated and no lighting etc or would we include heating and lighting as per other spaces in the building. 
 This is straying into how a building might be interpreted and modelled by an energy assessor. While we can often advise on such design queries, your accreditation scheme would be better placed to give a definitive answer on this. I would suggest consulting them and they should be able confirm. 
 
 2. Is it possible to detail the room as shell only. 
 It is my understanding that SBEM allows this for the entire building only, not on a room-by-room basis. 
 
 3.Also in Hevacomp V8i there was a standard room option which was selected for each room to apply to the Part L calc, is there anything similar we need to do in energy simulator. 
 The Set to Standard button in Hevacomp had little bearing on the PartL results - the design conditions are instead taken from the room type, according to the same type in the NCM database. You can find details on this below:

 In any case there is no need for similar button in Energy Sim as it does this automatically for you - eg it will adjust room occupancies etc according to the room type selected when it is traced.

4. Can you also advise on any upcoming training for energy simulator and Part L
