Change Room Height

Hi there,

is that possible to change the existing room height (especially on the midle floor rooms) on energy simulator rather than redraw it?

  • Hi Mohammed,

Thank for your feedback I will also convey this to product management.

For some insight into this matter, adding the change height option is something that has been considered and investigated at length by the product team, as we are aware of it's importance to our users.

I can understand that this appears to be a simple, single property for a room, which should be straightforward enough to enable - however from the software's point of view it would be deceptively complex.

The simple part is the height and volume of the room itself, however there is also the adjacent partitions, ceilings and internal floors to consider. The only way of regenerating all of these adjacencies to the rooms new dimensions is for the software to effectively delete and redraw the room itself in the background. This inevitably would take a while to process and users would then be wondering why such a simple change is taking several minutes to complete.

For our developers to re-write the software to make this performance of the above acceptable, the resources required means that that other urgent work cannot receive attention - for example update 10 has just come out, in which they have been urgently getting  latest Part L SBEM engine and are working on approval for that, TM52 simulations have been progressing, completed ductwork sizing has been made available, to name a few.

Recently there was also the new roof setup interface, which will allow you to change the heights of the uppermost rooms.

All of this is not to say that the change room height is not being considered, just thought it might help you understand the reasons for the delay you mention.
