Internal Ceiling and Floors

Hello,

In the below article it states that Internal Ceiling and Floor Construction should be Mirrored for consistency and this is also the default that the software provides.

Internal Ceiling and Floor Construction Mirroring

How do you account for a suspended ceiling with insulation matts and void before the floor, should this construction be built into the floor construction?

E.g.

Ceiling Tile

Insulation Matt

Void

Followed by the Floor construction?

  • Hi Grant,

Yes this is what I would recommend, at the end of the day for the calculations what the software is really interested in is the Uvalue (and associated properties) of the surface in question, its area, and the temperatures on either side, so it can compute the heat flow to the adjacent space. This needs to be consistent in both directions, hence the need to have the mirrored internal constructions.

    Hope that helps.
