What is Heads Up Display?
The Heads Up Display feature is located in Workspace > Preferences. When the Element Selection tool is active, Heads Up Display scans to locate other Building components such as walls, doors and windows. The type and number of scanned Building components is controlled by Heads Up Display settings in the Preferences dialog box. When Building components are located, dimension strings and angles are displayed showing relationships with other Building components that exist in the DGN file and attached References. Alignment indicators also display to assist in locating start and end points for walls, beams, columns, and other Building components.
For Mechanical Building Designer, Heads up display is designed to first, isolate the target component from the rest of the working model by fitting it to a predetermined view, then provide pop up dialog boxes when dimensions are selected. Reorienting the view to another standard viewing angle displays different dimensions. To increase efficiency, only the key dimensions that change geometry are available in the heads up display. This is especially advantageous when working with complex components containing many driven dimensional properties. That is, dimensional properties that are not directly editable, but are determined by other dimensional properties.
