I am using AECOsim Building Designer with the ANZ dataset. When placing Curtain Walls, or even when selecting a Curtain Wall in the DataGroup Catalog Editor, certain properties such as Glazing/GlassColor, Glazing/GlassType or Frame/FrameColor have a drop-down arrow as though there should be values to choose from. But in each case that list is empty. How I can activate these missing values?
The Curtain Wall properties mentioned are defined as List data types, but do not include any default values at this time. However, adding values to these properties is a fairly simple process:
1) Open the EnumLookups_Architectural.xml file, by default located at C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_ANZ\datagroupsystem, in Notepad or the text editor of your choice. This is the file that stores List values for Architectural components. While this folder also includes EnumLookup files ("enumerated lookup") for Mechanical and Structural, Curtain Walls fall under the Architectural discipline.
2) Add a new list section for the applicable property using its Catalog Type/Property Group Name/Property name hierarchy. You can reference other existing list sections to insure you are using proper XML formatting. For example, this section will add the values "Clear" and "Green" to the Glazing/GlassColor property: <EnumLookup definition="CurtainWall" property="CurtainWall/Glazing/@GlassColor" extendable="true"> <Enum value="Clear"/> <Enum value="Green"/> </EnumLookup>
3) After restarting AECOsim Building Designer, the values you added in step 2 should be available from the Curtain Wall placement tool or DataGroup Catalog Editor.
