What is the simplest way to configure AECOsim Building Designer to match our Bentley Architecture workspace? I have a custom CFG file called ba_123 that I'd like to use, but I'm not really sure what to do with it.
The simplest way to add your custom ba_123.cfg file would be to add an include statement in the mslocal.cfg file under C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i\AECOsimBuildingDesigner\config. You could also redirect your workspace root as needed within that file as well. For example:
1) Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i\AECOsimBuildingDesigner\config2) Copy your ba_123.cfg file to this location3) Open ba_123.cfg and at the very end add: _USTN_WORKSPACEROOT = C:\your_folder\Workspace/4) Press the Enter key after the above and save5) Open mslocal.cfg and at the very end add: %include $(MSDIR)config/ba_123.cfg6) Press the Enter key after the above and save
This should cause ba_123.cfg to load and redirect the root workspace folder to C:\your_folder\Workspace/. Adding custom CFG files to the workspace and using them via include statements is typically our recommend practice vs. modifying the delivered files. Some users will modify the mslocal.cfg file since it's the starting point of the load sequence process, and as long as you remember to back up that file up prior to installing updates at a later time you should not have any issues.
