When starting AECOsim Building Designer using the Electrical discipline shortcut, we are getting the error message:
We've checked that our Electrical desktop shortcut is correct and that other parts of AECOsim Building Designer are working correctly.
This error is most often the result of read/write permissions, but there are a few things you can do that should help resolve it.
1. Make sure that you have full read/write access to these folders:
C:\Program Files\Bentley\AECOsim CONNECT Edition\AECOsimBuildingDesigner\Mdlapps\etfcomregister.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i xxx\AECOsimBuildingDesigner\ServerApp\binC:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i xxx\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Your_Dataset_Name\metadata
2. Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open Task Manager and switch to the Processes tab. Do you see BBES.EXE in the list? If so, right-click on it and choose End Process Tree.
3. Right-click on your Electrical shortcut and choose the Run As Administrator option. This will elevate your permission levels for that specific application.
4. Choose the Windows Start button > Control Panel > User Accounts. Click on Change User Account Control settings. If the slider is not set to the bottom-most level, please drag it all the way down and click OK - note that you will need to reboot for this change to take effect.
5. If the issue does not resolve after following the aforementioned methods, In AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition go to C:\Program Files\Bentley\AECOsim CONNECT Edition\AECOsimBuildingDesigner\Mdlapps\etfcomregister.exe and double click on it. In V8i "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\AECOsimBuildingDesigner\ServerApp\bin" and double click on the BBES.REG file to create the relevant keys.
