We are using i-Model Composer to publish an i-model from a 3D concrete design created using AECOsim Building Designer, composed of both Slab Forms and MicroStation solids. After publishing the i-model we see that Volume property values for the Slab Forms are populated but not for the MicroStation solids. Which schema file can be used to populate a MicroStation solid's volume property when published to an i-model? We also have a few other properties such as "Design Status" that we store in a separate database; can we also incorporate them into i-Models when using i-Model Composer?
No, MicroStation primitive solids do not include data such as Volume when published to i-models, and i-Model Composer does not include functionality that will allow property values to be added during the i-model publishing command.
Instead, it is recommended that you use i-Model Transformer to include solids Volume as well as properties that are stored externally. It has the ability to "merge" i-models with other data sources, such as Excel sheets, and exports a new "combined" i-model as the output. i-Model Transformer is currently available as a Technology Preview; information is available online on Be Communities here: http://communities.bentley.com/products/betas/i-model_transformer/w/help/6660.aspx http://communities.bentley.com/products/betas/i-model_transformer/w/help/6654.aspx
There is a new "JoinItems" transform included in the i-model Transformer 08.29.01.14 release posted on February 2nd that may make assigning properties/values to existing items even easier.
Note: The i-model Transformer only runs in i-Model Composer and MicroStation at this time, but once you've published your i-models the AECOsim Building Designer business data is already intact and will be used as such.
