    Error or Warning Message

I am getting the error message "BBES has no write access to these directories: \\server\classroom\AECOsim Building Designer\Workspace\BuildingDatasets\Our_Dataset\Metadata", where the \metadata folder is part of our ProjectWise Managed Workspace.  I understand that this folder requires explicit read/write access in order to run properly, but I believe it should be unlocked and allow users read/write privileges, and I’ve also tried running as an administrator (which should grant those write privileges).

The path to our \metadata folder displayed in the error message, "\\server\classroom\AECOsim Building Designer\Workspace\BuildingDatasets\Our_Dataset\Metadata", was created after we took a copy of the electrical building dataset files we used in our original product training server and placed them on a local server in the following directory: "D:\AECOsim Building Designer\Workspace\ABD_Electrical\BuildingDatasets\Our_Dataset\Metadata".  We've also now defined the new configuration variable AA_BBES_ROOT and set it to D:\AECOsim Building Designer\Workspace\ABD_Electrical, and have also defined most of the other BBES_ variables to be based on AA_BBES_ROOT. In addition, the configuration variable BBES_DATASETS itself was commented out so should not be a factor.

    Explanation

The variable BBES_DATASETS that originally pointed to the classroom server was set within a ProjectWise CSB and was locked. Therefore the CSB that contains BBES_DATASETS should be modified, by someone with administrator priveleges, so that it points to the location of the copied version of the dataset, in this case "D:\AECOsim Building Designer\Workspace\ABD_Electrical\BuildingDatasets".  Since the variable was locked and in a predefined CSB, any changes made to the *.pcf file would have no effect, essentially making the new configuration variable AA_BBES_ROOT moot.

    How to Avoid

With the above in consideration, you can resolve the error message by modifying the Predefined configuration variable BBES_DATASETS, changing it from "\\server\classroom\AECOsim Building Designer\Workspace\BuildingDatasets/" to "D:\AECOsim Building Designer\Workspace\ABD_Electrical\BuildingDatasets/".
