    Customising Grid Systems Symbology With Element Templates in SS6

      Product(s): AECOsim Building Designer V8i
      Version(s): 08.11.09.829; 10.00.00.154
      Environment:  N/A
      Area:  Grid Systems
      Subarea:  Element Templates

    Please note that we recommend making decisions about the customising appearance of grids during project set up.

    These notes also apply to CONNECT Edition.

    Find the delivered Grid Templates dgnlib in your regional dataset, in this example V8i Dataset_GB:

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_GB\dgnlib\GridTemplate.dgnlib

    Copy it to a project or company dataset, for this example I'll use the project dataset, then rename it appropriately, e.g.:

    P:\ABD_TestProject_01\support\dataset\dgnlib\Project_GridTemplate.dgnlib

    Note: Before opening the copied file either change your user configuration from Building Designer to an admin user as discussed in Managing dgnlib files to prevent unwanted dataset content being copied into the file.

    Once the file is open go to Element menu > Element templates to open the Element templates dialog.

    Two identical sets of templates will be listed.

    Modify the properties of the Grid Template > Default in Project_GridTemplate.dgnlib as required then close the file.

    In your project configuration file add the line:

    BB_GRID_TEMPLATE_DGNLIB = $(_USTN_PROJECTDATA)support/dataset/dgnlib/Project_GridTemplate.dgnlib

    Reopen AECOsim Building Designer with the Building Designer user. Now opening the Element templates dialog will show that the project template is in use.

    Any grids created subsequent to these changes will use the new symbology. To update existing grids, open Floor Manager > Settings > Tick 'Apply to All Grid Systems' > Click Apply:
