Selecting cells for the new Place Profile tool in SELECTseries6

      Product(s): AECOsim Building Designer
      Version(s): V8i (08.11.09.829)
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Architectural Design
      Subarea: N/A

    Problem

How are cells selected for the new Place Profile tool?

    Solution

While the new Place Profile tool places elements in a linear fashion similar to Walls, it's structure within the DataGroup System is similar to User Defined components such as Furniture or Shelving in that cells are defined per Catalog Item.  But instead of using the ParaDef schema to load a Compound Cell or Parametric Frame, Profiles use the CellName property from the Profile_Common schema to define the cell library and cell name using a double colon separator - "Library::Cell".

In addition, Profiles by default include the ObjectMaterial schema in order to pre-define a Family and Part assignment per Catalog Item, again using the double colon separator - Family::Part.
