Problem
What is the difference between the Demote View and the Promote View and how do I make use of these tools?
Solution
A Promoted View the elements contained in that view are resymbolized to their respective part assignments. This means, if the part assigned to a wall defines level/ color 1 in the 3D Model, but is set to use level 2/ color 2 along the Cut Plane and level 3/ color 3 in the Forward View, then level 2/ color 2/ and level 3/ color 3 is what you should see in the Promoted View. Once promoted, check the Building tab in the View Attributes for the settings that will apply only to the Promoted version. For example, Drawing symbols and Unification.
Also, the configuration variable BB_DATASETTLEMENTS should have a variable of “1” in order to properly support Drawing Views.
As far as Demoted Views, it removes all the Saved View setting from the 3D model except for the Clip Volume tab.
