    In the Catalog Type Definition dialog where are these paths set? What dictates the system location verses the project/company?

    Product(s): AECOsim Building Designer
    Version(s): 08.11.09.829
    Environment: Windows 7 64 bit
    Area: DataGroup
    Subarea: Item Creation

    Problem Description

    When I open the Catalog Type Definition Dialog Box, where are these paths set? What dictates the system location verses the project/company?

    Steps to Resolve

    The dialog is accessed via > New Catalog Type from the toolbar on the Data group Catalog Editor. Also, for existing catalog items requiring modification, the right-click > Properties menu on a selected catalog item opens the Catalog Type Definition dialog.

      Used to create/modify a Catalog Types, including the display name, Filters to which it belongs, and the definition/schema. It defines new catalog types names, their destination directory file locations and associated settings as well as sets a tool template and establishes associated definitions from the list of available definitions.

    The paths are defined by DG_Path and does the user have the cfg variable -_BB_DATASET_COMPANY_DG_LOCK set?

    These variables were documented in the SS5 readme…

    BB_DATASET_COMPANY_FILTER
    <path>
    Location of the Primary, Company, shared or centralized dataset, to be used in destination filtering in the DataGroup System. (Currently used by DataGroup Explorer and referenced by the IFC property mapping to designate that the schedule and/or mapping definitions are to be stored at the project vs the dataset level)
    BB_DATASET_PROJECT_FILTER
    <path>
     Location of the Project Dataset, to be used in destination filtering in the DataGroup System(Currently used by DataGroup Explorer and referenced by the IFC property mapping to designate that the schedule and/or mapping definitions are to be stored at the dataset vs the project level.

    Why project verse company location mattered..
    Project catalogs is stored at the project level and is only available to that project, while company catalogs is intend to be stored more at the dataset level and shared across multiple projects.

    System, the user has no control off, because that is from the ABD application layer. (System should no longer be a visible option to the user in SS6)

    Also take note of new configuration in SS6 that relate;

    BB_DATASET_COMPANY_DG_LOCK
    Undefined, 0, 1
    If set to "0" or "undefined" (default), you can add/edit Company-level catalog types, catalog entries, and settings in the Company Dataset. If set to "1", you cannot add/edit Company-level catalog types, catalog entries, and settings in the Company Dataset.
