DataGroup Annotation Cells - Where should their library be located?

Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer (and AECOsim Building Designer)
      Version(s): CONNECT Edition and V8i
      Environment:  N/A
      Area:  DataGroup System
      Subarea:  DataGroup Annotation Cells

Ordinary cells can be accessed from as many locations as configured, generally; organization, WorkSpace and WorkSet.

DataGroup Annotation Cells are different, they can only be accessed from one file. This file name and location is defined by BB_ANNOTATION_CELLLIB.

The default location is in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\Datasets\Dataset_<region>\cell\Annotation_DG.cel.

    [for V8i: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss6\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_<region>\cell\Annotation_DG.cel.]

If you intend to make modifications or add to the delivered cells we recommend that you do so in an organisation, WorkSpace or WorkSet level copy of the delivered Annotation_DG.cel. Regional datasets include a copy of this file named Project_Annotation_DG.cel (in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenBuildings CONNECT Edition\Configuration\WorkSpaces\Building_Examples\worksets\BuildingTemplate_<region>\Standards\Cell)

    For example:

Setting BB_ANNOTATION_CELLLIB = $(_USTN_WORKSPACESTANDARDS)cell/Annotation_DG.cel at the site level directs all users to a copy of Annotation_DG.cel in each WorkSpace. Copy the delivered library to this location then amend as required.

Regional datasets include a copy of Annotation_DG.cel named Project_Annotation_DG.cel. Setting BB_ANNOTATION_CELLLIB = $(_USTN_WORKSETSTANDARDS)cell/Project_Annotation_DG.cel in the WorkSet CFG overrides. Note that this relies upon any updates to the WorkSpace standards being imported to the project, which can be done using the normal import model process.

Just to reiterate, it is not possible to pre-pend (or append) multiple DataGroup Annotation Cell libraries, e.g.: BB_ANNOTATION_CELLLIB < $(PROJ_DATASET)cell/Project_Annotation_DG.cel will fail with the message center error:

"BB_ANNOTATION_CELLLIB points to an invalid file"

An instance of Annotation_DG.cel must be present in the specified location for the feature to function.

To maintain standards Windows folder/file permissions should be used to control who can edit the various instances of Annotation_DG.cel
