Whenever I perform a Save Settings in my Electrical design file it kicks off the Update Location Info command, but when accepting this an exception error occurs and I have to exit the application. This behavior began after inserting specific symbols into my design, such as "Duplex Recept. Outlet".
Defect # 140474 was logged against AECOsim Building Designer SELECTseries5 to address an issue with 3D cells included in specific symbols, such as Receptacle 2, that can cause errors during the Update Location Info command. This issue has since been resolved in AECOsim Building Designer SELECTseries6. However, if you need to complete your project in SELECTseries5, you can replace these specific SELECTseries5 cells with those from the SELECTseries6 cell library. In the example below, we are replacing the cell "REC_DUPX" which is the 3D portion of the primary cell recpt_2 used by the symbol named "Duplex Recept. Outlet", as shown in the Building Element Info dialog and besCells library.
1. From AECOsim Building Designer SELECTseries5 choose File > Open, and browse to the C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AECOsimBuildingDesigner V8i Ss5\WorkSpace\BuildingDatasets\Dataset_Name\symLibs\xxx folder, where "xxx" represents the three digit number for your symbol library; e.g., 080 for Dataset_US, 010 for Dataset_NM, etc.
2. Select the file bescells.cel and click Open.
3. Choose File > Models and click on the Import models icon.
4. Browse to the SELECTseries6 equivalent of the path chosen in step # 1 above and select besCells.cel. NOTE: Change the file filter to *.* in order to see non-DGN extension files.
5. From the resulting Select Models dialog select REC_DUPX and click OK.
6. From the Alert pop-up, click on Yes with the "Overwrite the existing model" option enabled.
7. The active Model should automatically switch to REC_DUPX, confirming that SELECTseries5 version of this Model has now been replaced by the SELECTseries6 version.
8. Close the Models dialog and the besCells.cel file, and exit AECOsim Building Designer SELECTseries5.
After restarting, all new "Duplex Recept. Outlet" symbols should not cause an error when using the Update Location Info command. One way to "rebuild" already placed symbols so that they do not cause the error is by:
1. Select the previously placed "Duplex Recept. Outlet" symbols.
2. Open the 3D Properties tool, enable the "Use 3D elevation for 2D symbol" option and click OK.
3. Re-select the same symbols and using the 3D Properties tool again, disable the "Use 3D elevation for 2D symbol" option and click OK.
At this point no further errors should be encountered when using the Update Location Info command.
