Spaces - Controlling the Space Artefact

Overview

When a new Space is placed in to the 3D model it doesn't use the label chosen in the Annotate Tool Settings dialog, but instead uses a generic space label "artifact". This document shows methods to place the specified automatically, and also how to control the "artifact" label scale.

Method

  1. The space label "artifact" is a placeholder to designate that a space exists within the 3D Model, with the intent of proper labels being used within the respective drawings either through automated Drawing Rules or manually placed DataGroup Annotation.  However, you can automatically add the active Space label when placing new Spaces in the 3D Model by setting the configuration variable BB_ANNOTATE_IN3DDGN to a value of "1" (without the quotes).  While this is not the recommended workflow of annotating within Drawing and Sheet Models, it is supported for those who choose to use the legacy methods.
  2. If you would like to retain the Space "artifact" but simply want to change its scale, you can do so by choosing Workspace > Preferences > Building Designer > Auto Dimensions Font Size > Overall Width & Overall Height and setting appropriate values.
