Did you know that you can standardize your company and project standard Catalog Items in BBMS for use by everyone on the project team?
The steps below show the basic steps to edit a catalog item to suit your company or project standards.
1. Access the catalog items from Project Management > DataGroup - Building Components > Edit Catalogs.
Note: The DataGroup Catalog editor can also be accessed via the START menu > All Programs > Bentley Building V8i (or XM) > Building Tools > DataGroup > DataGroup Catalog Editor. Using the method you do not need to start BBMS.
2. Select Rectangular Elbow and expand to DefaultRect.
We have now accessed the Default Rectangular Elbow that BBMS uses. Let's make some changes.
There are a variety of options/properties that you can change to meet your company and project standards, so let's change the Turning Vanes for this example.
3. From the right side of the DataGroup Catalog Editor scroll down to the Turning Vane Properties area.
4. Change the number of Turning Vanes from 2 to 4. 5. Change the Vane Size to 5;5; (inches)
You may also change the Vane Type from 0-short radius to any other value listed. Options for this are:
You have now changed the Rectangular Elbow that BBMS uses. Now we need to lock it down so that our users adhere to our new standard elbow type.
6. Continuing in the Catalog Editor un-check the Editable check box next to the items that you have changed.
This will now lock the catalog item so that the users use the changes that were made. You may also wish to Hide any items to shorten the list the users see in the DataGroup Instance data dialog when placing BBMS itmes.
7. Select Save and the Catalog item will now be saved to your dataset. 8. Return to BBMS and select Rectangular Elbow.
Notice that the items were the edit feature was un-checked is now dimmed out and not editable by the user.
