Inappropriate display issue in high resolution monitor

      Product(s): AECOsim Building Designer
      Version(s): 08.11.09.866
      Environment:  N\A
      Area:  General
      Subarea:

    Background

While using a high-resolution (4K) monitor, text in the AECOsim Building Designer user interface appears as jammed and/or overlapping and icons are not properly displayed. Changing ‘View Tool Size’ and ‘Tool Size’ under Workspace > Preferences > Look and Feel does not resolve the issue.

    Steps to Accomplish

Disable display scaling of AECOsim Building Designer

    1. Right click the AECOsim Building Designer shortcut on your desktop or the AECOsimBuildingDesigner.exe file (from Windows File Explorer) and select Properties from the pop-up menu.

    Step-1 Pic 1

    2. Now go to the Compatibility tab, select 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings', then click OK.

    Step-1 Pic 2

    Change text size to recommended

    1. In the Windows start menu search for 'Display Settings'. Select the appropriate desktop.

    2. Move the 'Change the size of Text' slider to 'Recommended'.

    3. Log-out and then Log-in to your account of restart your computer.

    Step - 2 Pic-1

    Change screen resolution

    1. When in Display Settings, click on 'Advanced display settings'.

    Step -3 Pic-1

    2. Now change the display resolution value to 'xxxx X xxxx (Recommended)'.

    Step -3 Pic-2

    Set a custom scaling level

    1. When in Advance display settings, click on 'Advanced sizing of text and other items'.

    2. Now click on 'Set a custom scaling level'. A new window 'Custom sizing options' will pop open. Under the 'scale to this percentage of normal size' drop-down list change to between 150% to 200% (depending upon what works best for you).

    2. Log-out and then Log-in to your account of restart your computer.

Additionally, once done with the above steps, you can modify the 'Look and feel' options in the AECOsim Building Designer Preferences dialog for fine tuning.
