      Version(s): 10.00.00.154
      Environment: N/A
      Area: Installation
      Subarea: N/A

Before you install AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition, there are a few additional things you may want to know:

Uninstalling Pre-released versions of AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition.

If you participated in any of the pre-release programs, in which you installed a Technology Preview or Release Candidate, it is critical that you completely uninstall those pre-release versions and its associated components prior to installing the commercial release version of AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition (10.00.00.154). Please reference CONNECT Edition - Uninstalling pre-released versions.

    New On-demand Installer

AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition is delivered with a new on-demand installer. While the application is included in the initial installation download, other portions are download as need during the installation based on what is already installed on your computer and what options you select during the installations. The AECOsim Building Designer on-demand installer includes all the available AECOsim Building Designer regional datasets, companion features GenerativeComponents and Descartes and the companion application LumenRT.  This installer respects all the traditional installer options, such as silent and administrative deployment. If you concerned about slow internet connection and excessive download times, you may want to consider an administrative deployment. Please reference CONNECT Edition - Creating a Deployment Image.

    V8i Projects to CONNECT WorkSets

In CONNECT edition, V8i Projects have transitioned into WorkSets and the Project nomenclature is no longer used.  CONNECT edition also introduces some changes in configuration variables and folder structures.  To help you migrate your v8i projects to CONNECT WorkSets, you can use the 'Configuration Migration' Wizard. Please reference - CONNECT Edition - How to Migrate a V8i Project(.pcf) to a CONNECT WorkSet(.cfg) or for a more comprehensive migration description and to accommodate some customized environments please reference

How to Manually migrate V8i Project(.pcf) to CONNECT WorkSet(.cfg) and adopt CONNECT folder structures.

For more information on the CONNECT configuration and directory changes please reference - CONNECT Edition - Configuration Changes. For a complete list of new, superseded and deleted configuration variables for the AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition EAP, please reference Configuration Variables: New/Deprecated/Superseded for the CONNECT Platform/MicroStation and CONNECT Edition - Configuration Variables: New/Deprecated/Superseded for AECOsim Building Designer.

    Datasets:

While CONNECT Edition can use a SELECTseries 6, Update 1 datasets with only minor issues, it is not recommended to share datasets across multiple applications. If you have a custom SELECTseries 6, Update 1 dataset, it in a good foundation to migrate to CONNECT dataset.

    ProjectWise Managed Configurations

In CONNECT Edition, ProjectWise Managed Configuration are the CONNECT equivalent to V8i ProjectWise Managed workspaces. ProjectWise Managed Configuration with AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition will be available with the release of ProjectWise CONNECT Edition (Update 2.2). Please reference - AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition Deployment Guide: ProjectWise Managed Configuration for additional information.
