CONNECT Edition - Create Organization folders

    Product(s): OpenBuildings Designer
    Version(s): CONNECT Edition
    Area: Configuration
    Subarea: Organization

    Overview

The Organization folder and contents in a Custom Configuration must be created manually. This folder contains locations for storage of shared resources and custom dataset content that apply to the whole Organization.

    Method

The method to create the Organization folder and content in a Custom Configuration is described in CONNECT Edition - Custom Configuration - Part 1 : Initial Creation Steps for MicroStation CONNECT Edition.

The process is identical for OpenBuildings Designer.

    Organization Dataset Folders

In addition to the Standards folders in the Custom Configuration's Organization folder (e.g. \\server\CONFIGURATIONS\OBD\Organization) OpenBuildings Designer also needs folders to locate Organization level custom dataset content.

There are two options for these folders. They can be mixed in with the other folders within ...\Organization; or contained in a separate folder alongside this, e.g.: \\server\CONFIGURATIONS\OBD\Organization_Dataset:

The second approach is recommended as it has the advantage of isolating dataset specific resources from the other resources that may be used by other applications if, for instance, OpenBuildings Designer and MicroStation are directed to the same Custom Configuration.
